Beskrivning av samhällsfrågan

Are we entering a new era where activists, social entrepreneurs and civil society collaborate to create new synergies and solutions to old problems? A discussion about new actors and methods that are emerging on the world's stage of development and human rights.

Utökad beskrivning av samhällsfrågan

To achieve the Agenda 2030 a diverse, active, and independent civil society is crucial. However, established and traditional civil society actors are questioned by groups whom they claim to represent. In Kenya, there’s a growing social commitment among young people, but also mistrust against the establishment. Youth organize, claim their rights, and make an impact on society by using channels such as blogs, graffiti, and films. In united grass root movements and informal networks a new approach of activism is growing in Kenya. Meanwhile in Sweden Norrsken Foundation launched Europe’s largest hub for impact and technology in May. Combining high risk with high impact, seeing this is an unexplored territory in a world where NGOs avoid financial risks and venture capitalists focus only on financial return. In this seminar we will discuss what synergies and solutions can be created by integrating activism and modern technology to combat corruption, poverty and achieve the Agenda 2030.
