Beskrivning av samhällsfrågan

Housing and building policy is frequently discussed at both local and national levels in Sweden, but unfortunately the needs of businesses and enterprise are often overlooked. According to business people, not enough land is being made available to them for the establishment of new premises.

Utökad beskrivning av samhällsfrågan

In order to create attractive and competitive cities, businesses must be given the opportunity to establish their operations in a more effective way than currently exists. The situation varies greatly depending on which council your business is located in. There is a need for consensus concerning processes and regulations for the establishment of new businesses from a national perspective which can then be broken down to the local level. In our country there are nationally developed policies for housing and urban development in general, but there is a need for a distinct building policy which includes both housing and business premises. Good examples do exist in some council areas which should be indicative at a national level. There is also a need to benchmark with other countries in order to succed on this issue. If Swedish companies are to prosper and be successful despite international competition then making new business establishment more efficient is an important factor.
